PW27A: For Hygienic Weighing up to 20 kg

With load cells of the PW27A product series, companies producing and filling food products are well prepared to face all future challenges: Designed for low capacities ranging from 0 to 10kg and 0 to 20kg, the load cells comply with the strict EHEDG specifications and are therefore ideally suited for filling, packing, and weighing beverages and other food products.

Due to the special design of the stainless-steel measuring body in conjunction with the solid stainless-steel pipe housing, the PW27A load cells are hermetically sealed and extremely robust (IP68/IP69K degree of protection). This allows quick and thorough cleaning, even with high-pressure washers. Owing to their integrated and encapsulated overload protection—up to ten times their maximum capacity—the PW27A load cells’ functionality remains unchanged even if someone accidentally steps on them (e.g. when cleaning the machine).

A PW27AP version of the load cell—providing a connector for even faster integration—is also available.

The PW15 and SP4M series load cells have uniform footprint but different characteristics. They enable scales to be designed in a flexible design, thus enabling a wide range of applications. With their different specifications, they are ideal for the food, packaging and chemical industries as well as for trade and agriculture - and ideal for belt, floor, table and loading scales as well as filling and production systems.

  • The SP4M certified single point load cell made of aluminum and a very large nominal load range weighs particularly precisely up to Accuracy Class C6 Multitrange and an enormous maximum factor (Y value) of up to 20,000. In addition to explosion-proof versions for potentially explosive atmospheres, the load cell is available with additional options such as different connection cable lengths and balanced output for parallel connection.
  • The PW15B single point load cell is made of stainless steel and can therefore be used in a wide range of ambient conditions. It is also available in various explosion-proof versions, as well as with balanced output for optimum use in parallel-connected scales.
  • The PW15AH single point load cell is enormously robust, hermetically encapsulated, has the highest possible degree of protection IP68 / IP69K. The PW15AH load cell provides stable results under extreme ambient conditions.
  • The PW15PH single point load cell is extremely flexible and quickly replaceable thanks to an innovative plug system. With a hermetically welded device plug, it also fulfills protection class IP68 / 69K. The matching connection cables are also available from HBM.

PW10A Single-Point Load Cell: Weighing Heavy Loads with Class C3MR Precision
The PW10A load cell is ideally suited to be used in single-point applications that involve platform sizes up to 600 x 500 mm, such as in industrial applications and weighers or medical scales. Its maximum capacity is up to 300 kg, which is very high considering its compact design. The single-point load cell complies with the C3 Multi-Range accuracy class and provides precise measurement results. A test certificate confirms that it is approved for use in legal for trade applications. The 6-wire technology compensates for all cable influences on the measurement result. The PW10A load cell's cable shield is connected to the measuring body and thus optimally protects it against electromagnetic fields. PW22 Single Point Load Cell: Extremely Fast Weighing with Accuracy Class C3

The PW22 single point load cell is ideally suited for fast, dynamic weighing, for example in multihead combination weighers. With IP67 degree of protection, it is ideal for reliable use in industrial environments, for example filling bulk materials or in many other kinds of filling applications.

The PW22 has uniquely high rigidity and therefore an extremely high natural resonant frequency. This ensures low settling times, which in turn results in extremely short weighing times. With a high maximum scale interval factor and accuracy class C3, it returns reliable and has very precise measurement results. Thanks to the patented overload stop in compressive and tensile direction, it can withstand overloads of up to five times the maximum capacity. Whether for building industry tanks, coal bunkers or tanks for liquids and gases, the C16 weigh module has the specific properties required and is available for all applications.

All the weighing modules, whether galvanized or made of stainless steel, are fitted with integrated stay rods to absorb the horizontal forces, such as typically occur with wind loads. Anti-liftoff devices are included in the design as an accessory and can be easily fitted by the user when required.

The metrological heart of the module is the C16 selfrestoring pendulum load cell, which is available in various versions.

Special optional features of C16 weighing modules:

C2 and C2A Load Cells: Universal Compression Load Cells

Proven useful in tens of thousands of applications, the C2 series load cells provide a reliable and accurate weighing of loads ranging between 50 kg and 50 t. Applications can be found in all branches of industry where tough and robust load cells are required. Some examples of their application include silo and ladle weighing, batching scales, platform scales, or lifter scales (with pulleys).

Ring Torsion Load Cells: Precise Weighing up to 470 Tons

RTN ring torsion load cells are available for a wide range of maximum capacities (1 t—470 t). All versions are compact and, at the same time, extremely robust. These properties and their superior degree of protection (up to IP 68/IP 69K) make them ideal for a wide range of container weighing applications, use in large platform scales, and the construction of vehicle scales – even in unfavorable environmental conditions.

HBM’s RTN load cells are extremely precise and minimize the influence of lateral load application with their unique ring-shaped strain gauges. Their high input resistance and low power consumption enable the use of battery-powered evaluation units for taking measurements.

Numerous special versions such as IECEx-ATEX or temperature-resistant versions (up to 110 °C) are available, and different cable lengths and cable types can be configured. A new version with an M12 connector is also available as an option for variants with accuracy class 0.05.

RTN/M Weigh ModuleRTN/M

The RTN weighing module is designed to be easy to mount reducing assembly time and costs. The module provides all the functions needed for process measurement applications and gravimetric level measurement and is equipped with a Rubber-metal Bearing or a Pendulum Bearing.

There are two different variations for introducing the load depending on the application: rubber-metal bearings [RTN / M2(L)A] are available for balancing horizontal movements and pendulum bearings [RTN / M2(L)B] are intended for attaining maximum accuracy with very small loads.

All RTN weighing modules are delivered with a load cell dummy because they are often used in harsh industrial environments that can damage the extremely precise transducer. This allows users to use the dummy cell for positioning and substitute it with the actual weighing module when the system is operational.

The basic configuration of the RTN includes an integrated anti-lift-off device and integrated horizontal stops. An optional stay rod for the weighing system is also available from HBM. RSCC Tension Load Cell - Weigh up to 5 t With an Accuracy Class of C3

The RSCC tension load cell is ideal for use in static and quasi-static weighing tasks; for instance, for the gravimetric level measurement of suspended tanks as well as for conveyor, batching, and hybrid scales. It is available in seven maximum capacities, which range from 50 kg to 5 t, thus covering a very broad range. Owing to its C3 accuracy class and proven HBM strain-gauge technology, the RSCC provides precise measurement results. A test certificate confirms that it has been approved for use in legal-for-trade applications.

The tension load cell is the optimal solution for use in harsh industrial environments due to its high IP68 degree of protection and has become the standard in weighing tasks in concrete mixing plants. The connection cable can be permanently protected by a connection adapter for cable protection systems, which is available as an option for the tension load cell. All the load cells of the RSCC series are hermetically encapsulated and have a robust, stainless-steel measuring body that enables them to permanently withstand humid and harsh environments. An IECEx/ATEX version of the RSCC is also available for safe use in potentially explosive atmospheres such as in mills and in the chemical industry.

Z16A Tension Load CellZ16A

Rugged load cell for precise weighing of suspended loads

With the Z16A tension load cell, HBM offers a unique solution for weighing suspended loads. Applications include gravimetric level measurements or batching with attached process containers.

Made of stainless steel, the Z16A tension load cell is available for maximum capacities of 7.5 and 15 metric tons. Two different versions feature accuracy class D1 and C3 according to OIML R60. The Z16A is also hermetically encapsulated and achieves degree of protection IP68/IP69K, which allows for use in damp environments.

Due to the sophisticated way in which force is applied, the Z16A is ideally suited for suspended installation in container weighers and in conveyor, batching and hybrid weighers. The load cell is EMC-tested in accordance with OIML R60 (2006) and is able to withstand loading of up to 10 V/m.

The optionally available M36x3 adapter for the Z16A can be used for easy mechanical integration. Knuckle eyes are also available as an alternative. Different legal-for-trade cable lengths are available in the 6-wire configuration. This flexibility reduces the cost of installation without affecting the class accuracy of the load cell.

U2A Legal-For-Trade Tension/Compression Load Cell

The U2A load cell has proven to be useful in thousands of applications and is available with maximum capacities ranging between 50 kg and 20 t. The variants with 500 kg, 1 t, 2 t, and 5 t maximum capacity meet the D1 accuracy class. Additionally, the U2A load cell is available with other maximum capacities and accuracy classes (0.1 and 0.2). 

Compliance with the D1 accuracy class allows utilization in Class III scales with a resolution of up to 1,000 divisions in compliance with OIML R60. These can, for example, include suspended tanks, conveyor or batching scales, or hybrid scales. Another major field of application is found in gravimetric level measurement.
