Head, torso and pinna geometry affect the sound at the ear and how the product fits. A HATS reproduces these features for controlled, repeatable testing.
No. Its geometry and stiffness affect acoustic response and headphone fit. Match the simulator and ear type to the test method.
No. 5128-B is a tabletop head with a support foot and normally has no mouth simulator. 5128-C and 5128-D include a head and torso, with further configuration options available. Select the assembly for headphone, speech or communication-device testing.
In the described 5128 family, the ear simulators contain microphones and CCLD preamplifiers. The mouth simulator uses an integrated amplifier and a separate drive signal. Plan the measurement channels and excitation and power paths for the selected configuration.
No. HBK supplies individual calibration data, some stored in the preamplifier TEDS. Reading the data helps configure the system but does not replace a sensitivity check or calibration. The datasheet identifies suitable sensitivity-calibration devices.
5128-D includes Handset Positioner 4606 for repeatable positioning with force, pressure and position read-outs. It supports standardized and user-defined positions. Maintain the selected contact conditions throughout the test.
