Answers to the most common questions about our products and services
It can check sensor sensitivity and the measurement chain’s response to a reference excitation. Type 4294, for example, provides excitation at 159.15 Hz.
No. A portable calibrator’s sensitivity check applies at its reference conditions. It does not by itself measure sensor response throughout the full frequency range.
A calibrator has a load limit. In the reviewed datasheet, 4294 supports up to 70 g and 4294-002 up to 200 g, with different excitation levels. Check the mounting arrangement and load on the calibrator rather than selecting by reference frequency alone.
Yes. HBK specifies higher distortion for very light loads on 4294 and 4294-002 and recommends the DB-2996 mounting disc for very light accelerometers. Treat the adaptor as part of the test conditions.
Not necessarily. The 4294 and 4294-002 datasheet defines one temperature range with a tighter reference tolerance and an extended range with a larger tolerance. Read the tolerance together with the actual test temperature.
Yes. HBK recommends periodic recalibration of 4294 to maintain accuracy and traceability, with the interval selected for the application. Using the calibrator to check transducers does not replace maintaining its own reference validity.
