Answers to the most common questions about our products and services

The manufacturer positions 2245 as an accessible, focused Class 1 instrument and 2255 for broader, more complex acoustic work. Also match the applications and licences.

Yes. HBK’s current sound level meters support connected phone and PC workflows for control, analysis and reporting, depending on the instrument and application.

Frequency weighting, such as A or C, changes how frequencies contribute to the result. Time weighting, such as Fast or Slow, sets the response of the level measurement to changes over time. The 2255 manual defines them separately. Select both for the measurement method.

2255 distinguishes calibration from a Calibration Check. The check verifies and records the reference before and after measurement without changing the calibration. Follow the appropriate procedure and retain its record.

For timed 2255 measurements, Latched Overload is retained in the results if overload occurred at any point during the measurement. The absence of an overload now does not establish that the entire record was acquired without overload.

Allow settling according to the manual. Some 2255 results derived from Fast or Slow time weighting are valid only after settling following a reset. HBK distinguishes these from measurements such as equivalent continuous level and peak level, which are not affected by that settling.
