Its optics separate white light by wavelength. The wavelength focused on the target returns to the controller and is used to calculate distance. Working range depends on the head.
The head/controller must resolve both surface reflections, with suitable refractive-index correction and minimum thickness. Not every head supports thickness; IFS2402 explicitly does not.
An IFS head needs an optical fiber and suitable controller. IFD2410 and IFD2415 combine sensor and measuring controller without an external fiber.
No. Range, linearity, resolution, light spot and angle depend on the head; system performance also depends on controller and operating mode. Select a documented head/controller combination.
Select a dedicated head such as HT/VAC and suitable fiber, feedthrough and mounting. Environmental suitability does not automatically extend to the controller or every accessory.
