Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions about our products and services
Eddy-current sensitivity depends on target material. Material calibration adapts voltage-to-displacement conversion rather than merely changing a material name in software.
The −8 mV/µm value applies to 42CrMo4, material number 1.7225, corresponding to AISI/SAE 4140. It must not be applied automatically to every metal.
The manual describes testing a sample of the target material with an AC-126 calibration unit. Adaptation to the other material is performed in the measurement-system electronics.
The IN-08x manual states that a sensor can be replaced without recalibrating the instrumentation. This does not remove the requirement to match target material and measurement configuration.
These are separate checks. Material calibration matches sensitivity to the target, but other conductive metal in the probe field can distort the result. Also maintain the instructed installation clearances and shaft geometry.
