Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about our products and services

A shaker applies controlled vibration or shock to evaluate product behaviour and durability. The test setup also needs suitable amplification, control and fixturing.

No. Match payload, frequency range, acceleration, velocity and displacement to the test. These are separately specified limits that must be considered together.

No. HBK lists sine force, random force and shock force separately and notes that system performance also depends on the amplifier and configuration. Compare the force rating for the required test type using the same amplitude convention.

Consider a head expander to increase the mounting surface for a larger assembly or several test items. Include the expander and fixture mass in the test design and verify their suitability for the shaker.

A slip table enables horizontal excitation of the test item. HBK describes tables connected to the shaker armature using linear or hydrostatic bearings. Select the arrangement as part of the complete test system.

Yes, with a suitable configuration. A thermal barrier or extender protects the shaker from high or low temperatures when a climatic chamber is used. Verify the shaker, accessory and chamber together rather than applying the chamber temperature rating to the shaker itself.
